Project follows up after finalisation

With preparing guidelines for the integration of stormwater management (SWM) practises into urban drainage master planning and urban planning in general the project lays ground for a new strategy in urban drainage.

If the partnership of the cities will continue after the project ends can not be foreseen today. Nevertheless the external experts contracted by the partner cities already stated to start a long term cooperation. This effects especially the further development of simulation models and new technologies for stormwater management. Of course the consultants are interested to use the knowledge gained from the rainDROP project for developing new projects in the field of stormwater management.

Preparation of large investment

With preparing urban drainage master plans for each of the partner cities the rainDROP will surely lead to larger investment. This can be for example retrofitting measures in the sewer network, disconnection of surfaces from the drainage system and stormwater management (SWM) measures for new developments. Depending on the size of the cities this investment can easily reach a multimillion Euro level. Responsible for the implementation of urban drainage master plans are the cities itself, usually the technical departments.

Beside the induction of investments in the partner cities, rainDROP also seeks to increase the investment in a more nature-sound stormwater management in the whole CADSES area.
